THE SCRUB-ROBIN IN TIERRA DE BARROS, EXTREMADURA

Scrub-Robin (Cercotrichas galactotes) is an insectivorous species easy to identify due to its red long tail, which moves and open frenquently.

Scientific researchers have determined local extinctions, population’s declining and worrying situations related to the conservation of this species associated to dry lands.

Sara Díaz of Extremadura Birding in her DBF’s talk will explain to us how the use of biocides and land transformation, replacing olives and vineyards for intensive farming, can be the cause of Scrub-Robin is becoming a threatened species.
