THE EUROPEAN TURTLE DOVE, BEYOND WHAT WE THINK WE KNOW

Categories: news_home,news2019

The team of Gerard Bota and Francesc Sardà has managed to unveil several important questions about the spectacular decline of the European Turtle Dove in the European continent. Doves marked by these investigators of the Center of Science and Forestry Technology of Catalonia, are starting to proof that the migration pattern of Catalan doves, whose survival is greater, takes place mainly over the sea. In contrast, most European Doves have to stand the strong hunting pressure of mid August when migrating over France and Spain.

Is this a reason of decline of the Turtle Dove? Does it add up to other structural reasons? In the talk of these two investigators, we will know more about the conservation of this species, to which the DBF has donated money during two consecutive years.
