The Estimaocells project was born in 2012 in the cultural week of the small town of Urgell called Vallbona de les Monges.
It arises from the need to apply inverse psychology transforming the scarecrows into “nice scarecrows” or “bird-lovers” (estimaocells).
Estimaocells Project focuses on biodiversity, community, recycling and territory art.
One of the main goals of the project is biodiversity. Each estimocells, instead of scaring birds, attracts them. They contain a nest box in their heads and also carry feeders and other accessories to favour the attraction of birds to them avoiding predation of seeds, fruits, and plants.
At the community level, the project promotes that each family in the town has their own “estimaocells” made of recycled material and old clothes. Moreover, each creation contributes to increasing art’s territory.
They are unique and are now being replicated throughout the country and beyond, spreading their values of community, territory art, recycling, and biodiversity.
This Delta Birding Festival, we will have the opportunity to listen to the lecture of one of its creators, Eduard Viver. As well as, kids will enjoy creating an “estimaocells” in the familiar workshop called “Els estimaocells”.
