There is one important highlight for birders in the Delta Birding Festival: the contest Lynx ID Challenge in which participants have to identify pictures and sounds of birds of the Western Palearctic at a level of difficulty only available to those who have been birding extensively around the region. If you accept the challenge you will be pushed to the limit, stressed by the speed of photos on screen and the sounds around your ears but certainly you’ll be rewarded by the shots of adrenaline you’re gonna get.
The contest takes place on Saturday evening in Marquee 1, when all talks, presentations and in-door activities are finished. There are three prizes for those who come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. They consist of sets of the latest books by Lynx Eds., publishers of the acclaimed Handbook of the Birds of the World, now in its Alive version.
Previous years’ editions were won by Killian Mullarney, Marcel Gil and Marc Illa but a lot more participants had the fun of joining them in this ID race. No matter if you think you have no chances to win; just enroll the contest, have fun and get pushed to the limit!
