An ornithological marathon consists in the selection of a place, establish a period (normally one day) and try to see the maximum bird species. The European record of species detected in one day is held by the Zeiss Reservoir Birds Team, that detected 230 bird species in 2017 in Catalonia.
Do you imagine participating in your own marathon, competing with other teams and helped by the cracks of the ornithological teams? This year will be possible at DBF thanks to “Bits of the Delta” activity. Three teams, led by Zeiss Reservoir Birds Team (European record), Rarebirds spain – Swarovski Optik Birdracing Team (winner of the ornithological marathon by SEO on 2016) and the Lonely Birder – Leica, will guide you through three trips at three different spots on Ebro Delta.
The meeting point for the three teams will be the MónNatura reception on Sunday the 24th at 16:30, but you can go directly to the spot of your marathon at 17:00. It’s an activity with limited space, so don’t forget to reserve and give it all to make your team the winner.
