COLOMBIA, THE GREATEST BIRDING COUNTRY, WILL BE A PROTAGONIST

Categories: news_home,news2018

1,964 species is the record held by this great country in northern South America. About 20% of all those that are known. And surely in the next few years, exploration and scientific research will still make this figure grow. But this is just an anecdote or rather it is the reflection of the enormous diversity that harbors a country that is between the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans, with the Andes as a backbone and the Amazon jungle occupying a large area.

If you want to get to know Colombia, at the DELTA BIRDING FESTIVAL you can contact guides and travel agencies specialized in “birding”, that will make the dream of any ornithologist who wants to enjoy this paradise of birds come true.

And we will also know about a project for the conservation of two parrot species that are seriously threatened, the lorito de Fuertes (Hapalopsittaca fuertesi) and the loro Orejiamarillo (Ognorhynchus icterotis), endemic to the Colombian Andes. With the collaboration of Eduardo Soler, from Limonium, a series of actions that can be key for the recovery of both species is being carried out.
