Abella pol·linitzantThey are not birds but they are essential to life existence in our planet. It is said that even Einstein was conscious about this fact and this quote is attributed to him: “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left”.

 According to the FAO, the third part of the production of food in all of the world and about 90% of the wild flora depend on the pollination of the insects, in addition nine out of ten flowers need an insect that pollinates them to produce fruits and seeds. That’s why pollination is considered an ecological service with worldwide importance.

With Berta Caballero, Curator of Arthropodes at the Museum of Natural Science of Barcelona, we are going to discover that bees have demonstrated to be the most effective pollinating agent throughout evolution and are absolutely indispensable for out existence.
