Categories: news2016,news_home

macaronesia2In Northern Atlantic area, near the African shore, there are five archipelagos known as the Macaronesia (Azores, Canaries, Cape Verde, Madeira and Savage Islands). They are volcanic origin archipelagos, and have never been part of the continent, that’s why they are home of a particularly rich and diverse fauna and unique in most cases.Macaroneisa1

The archipelagos of the Macaronesia share some endemic bird species like the Plain swift or the Berthelot’s Pipit, but there are other species that are exclusively endemic from each archipelago like the Tenerife and Gran Canaria Blue Chaffinch, the Cape Verde Sparrow or the Madeira Firecrest.

The managers of Birding Canarias and Birds&Company will offer a talk accompanied with amazing photos about the birds of this area that has a very interesting ornithological value, because we can observe typical birds from Europe and Africa, almost without leaving the European Union
