Delta Birding Festival, which took place from 18th to 20th September at MónNatura Delta, closes its second Edition with a great attendance success, with near 2000 people participating in more than 100 activities offered during the festival, standing out conferences, workshops, ship tours, photography safaris or activities for beginners.
We can outline Hadoram Shirihai presentation, famous Israeli ornithologist, Dick Forsman, Finn world specialist in birds of prey, and Markus Varesvuo, Finn highly regarded photographer amongst the 50 presentations of the festival. The new TV3 show “tocats de l’ala” premiere has also raised a lot of expectation, introduced by its director, Fúlvia Nicolàs and its producer, Joan Pavia.
The festival has been able to combine the interests of the most specialized ornithologists of the country, who have been able to find top level workshops, conferences, photographical safaris and ship tours with a more amateur or family public, who also had activities and workshops to introduce them to enjoy ornithology in an exceptional environment.
The festival also had a trade show with more than 40 exhibitors including Optical stands, ornithological tourism stands, specialized book shops, International destination stands… amongst others. About fifty people have cooperated and worked in the development of the festival.
As it was previously done at the first Edition, once the economical evaluation has been done, the benefits obtained with the tickets purchase will be assigned to a birds conservation project, which this year will be the cooperation in the elaboration of the New Atlas of Catalonia’s nesting birds.
Therefore, the organizers (Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera, Oryx shop and Institut Català d’Ornitologia), the main partners (Departament de Territori i Sostenibilitat, Parc natural del Delta de l’Ebre, patronat de Turisme de les Terres de l’Ebre and Ajuntament d’Amposta) and special partners (SEO/Birdlife and Museu de les Ciències de Barcelona) thank all attendants to Delta Birding Festival 2015.
See you next year!!!
